Message from the DI
Here at QSI International School of Astana we prioritize and reinforce our teachers in their personal journeys to professional development.
Professional development is crucial in ensuring your children receive a high-quality and enduring education. Our dedication to planning, supporting, and providing professional development initiatives enables our teachers to stay current with evolving teaching methods, curriculum, and technology. This, in turn, empowers our teachers and staff to deliver the most current, effective, and evidence-based education.
Last Thursday-Saturday, our teaching staff traveled to Almaty where we took part in QSI's Central Asia Regional PD. QSI staff from Bishkek, Dushanbe, Atyrau, Almaty, and Astana all gathered together to learn from each other, share ideas, and network. We had a wonderful time! We're also very proud that six of our own teaching staff presented sessions at this PD on a range of topics from financial planning with students to using Notice & Note in literacy class to leadership development, using AI with students, and even more! QSI Astana was well represented.
In summary, professional development aids our staff in enhancing their teaching skills, adapting to diverse student needs, promoting student success, and fostering a Growth Mindset through a foundation of mastery learning. We see investing in our teachers' professional growth as a direct investment in your child's education. Thank you for your ongoing support in these endeavors!
Sincerely,
Christopher Konitz

PSG Spotlight: Nagima Nasife
In our newest edition of the Howling wolf, we are excited to introduce Nagima Nasife, our PSG Treasurer. She has been living in Astana since 2020. Her husband, Todd Nasife, is a dedicated teacher at QSI Astana, where their children also study. Previously, the family lived in Atyrau and attended and worked in the QSI school there.
Nagima's professional journey includes roles in communications, management development, and as an English teacher. Her academic background in business and administration makes her well qualified for the role of PSG Treasurer.
When asked why she joined PSG, Nagima shared, "I want to be active in seeing my children and help them out if I can.” She believes the most important part of being a PSG member is being involved in student lives. Being able to support kids with sport events, game nights, and after-school activities is what Nagima strives for. She is driven to have a say in PSG decisions, like spirit wear shops, and aims to be a proactive voice in resolving educational issues. Her primary goal is the wellbeing of the students.
Nagima appreciates QSI Astana for its exceptional teachers and vibrant community. Her family, including her children, not only values the school but also actively supports it.
Nagima is a valuable member of the PSG, determined to positively impact the school and prioritize student wellbeing. Her ambition is to pass on a message of kindness, encapsulated in her words: “Be kind; kindness repays.”
